Hopscotch
Chalk out a grid and grab something you can toss. Watch the video to see how to play!
-player leaves the court without picking up the hoppy taw
-player touches any part of a line on the court
-dropping the hoppy taw in the hopscotch court
-hopping or jumping in the same space as the hoppy taw
-if a player loses balance and puts their other foot down on the court
- Toss the hoppy taw into square 1, jump over square one and continue up the hopscotch court and turn back around when you get down to square 10. On the way back you must kick out the hoppy taw off the court then land in the square your hoppy taw was in.
- You may take any number of kicks or movements to get it out of the square, but the kick out must be done with your hopping foot that you land in the square with.
- If the hoppy taw lands in a lower square when you are trying to kick it out you may proceed to kick it out of that square.
- You are out and loose a turn if:
-player leaves the court without picking up the hoppy taw
-player touches any part of a line on the court
-dropping the hoppy taw in the hopscotch court
-hopping or jumping in the same space as the hoppy taw
-if a player loses balance and puts their other foot down on the court
4 SQUARE
Here are the rules for 4 square, enjoy getting out there to play.
4 Square
4 Square
- Each player stands in one of the four squares; blue, green, yellow, red.
- To start the game, the king square (blue or green) serves the ball by bouncing it in their square and then hitting it DIAGONALLY. The ball MUST be served diagonally the first time, then after that it can go anywhere else. The receiving player then hits the ball to any other player in one of the other squares.
- The ball must bounce in another player’s square, and they must hit it to another player’s square, and they must hit it to another player before it bounces a second time.
- A player may hit the ball before it bounces, if they choose to do so.
- If a player hits the ball so that it misses another player’s square, or fails to hit the ball before the second bounce after it has landed in their square they are “out”.
- When a player is “out,” other players move up to take their place, and that player moves to the last square or to the end of the line, if there are more than four players.
- The object of the game is to move up to and hold the server’s position.
- The ball can only be hit with the palm of their hand or their fist, it cannot be held and then thrown.

Knockout Basketball
- Choose a set order for those who are participating. Once the order is designated, it only changes when someone is knocked out.
- Line up single file, in order, with the first person at the free throw line.
- Give basketballs to the first two people in line.
- Allow the first person to shoot. If the shot is made, the player tosses the ball to the third player in line. If the shot is made the player tosses the ball to the third player in line, if the shot is missed, the player must immediately try to rebound and score before the following player shoots a free throw or the player is knocked out of the game.
- Understand that if the second player also misses, that player must try to rebound and score before the first payer rebounds, scores and quickly passes the ball to the third player waiting at the free throw line, or the second player risks being knocked out.
- When a player is knocked out, play stops momentarily and the basketballs are given to the next two players in line.
Tetherball
2. Hold or catching the ball during play, other than a serve.
3. Touch the pole with a part of the body.
4. Hit or catch the rope.
5. Step onto the opponent’s side of the court.
- Play rock, paper, scissors to see who serves.
- The judge is the first person in line. Anyone trying to influence the judge goes to the end of the line.
- Winner of rock, paper, scissors chooses the direction of their play and the side of their court.
- The ball can be played with an open or closed hand.
- The player who winds the rope completely around the pole in their direction is the winner.
- Players are out if they:
2. Hold or catching the ball during play, other than a serve.
3. Touch the pole with a part of the body.
4. Hit or catch the rope.
5. Step onto the opponent’s side of the court.
- You cannot win on a serve alone. The receiver must have hit or touched the ball at least once.
- If the game is lasting a long time, do a 25-STRIKE. Both players must hit the ball a total of 25 times. After the 25th hit, the person who has the rope twisted in their direction is the winner.
- A player who wins 3 consecutive games and their current opponent go to the end of the line.
- The BALL CANNOT BE HELD, it is like a volleyball, not a basketball, no throwing the ball; it is not “jungle ball” it is tetherball.
Kick Ball
- Kids are split into two teams, one team gets in line to kick and one team is on the field.
- The kicking order must stay the same throughout the entire game.
- All field players, except the pitcher, short stop and 1st baseman must be outside the diamond until the ball is kicked.
- The kicker: stands behind home plate and kicks the ball when it rolls over home plate. The kicker may have as many chances to kick as they need. If another player needs to help them kick they need to run the bases as soon as the ball is kicked. Bases are to be run in order and there is no “leading off” or “stealing” bases.
- When there are 3 outs, teams switch.
- A player is out if: they are tagged by the ball in any way (however the ball cannot be thrown at the runner), if the ball touches the base before they get there, if they run out of bounds to avoid being tagged or if they have four foul balls.
